Just makes me feel better, the perspective. I heard that StoryCorps segment too. And I woke up crying from it, realized that my glum outlook was all my own, and I had nothing to complain about. When the reading got to about 1.01, it was time to end the primary fermentation. As for sunlight, that's a good point and I have no idea at all. I'll have to ask Michael about that one.
